In order to understand our recent adoption of a Certificate of Deposit Program it is important to look at the history of the Housatonic Teachers Federal Credit Union.
On May 25, 1935, during the great depression, the organization meeting of the Credit Union was held in Milford Connecticut. Seven teachers formed the initial Board of Directors and each open the first accounts with $5.00 each placed into a cigar box.
They wanted teachers to have a financial institution they could have faith and trust in. This tradition has continued for more than 75 years.
Currently we are the best capitalized Credit Union in Connecticut. As a service to our members we are now offering excellent rates in our new Certificate of Deposit Program.
